(Ended) Kendal Balkan Mixture (Gawith Hoggarth) Sealed Aged 50g Tin 2012

G&H Balkan Mixture is a very enjoyable tobacco. A Virginia and dark fire-cured Indian tobaccos with Latakia. I find it somewhat reminiscent of Esoterica's Margate. It's medium-full, with plenty of Virginia sweetness in the background supporting a moderate amount of smoky Latakia and creamy Orientals. The Latakia is mouth-coating and somewhat blunt, but the other tobaccos are elegant enough to maintain balance. In the tin, it's a thin ribbon cut, a roughly equal mix of light and dark brown with lesser quantities of black and golden leaf. Tin aroma is dominated by the Latakia—a sweet, musty, smoky quality. The fine cut makes this easy to pack, light, and burn.
