Description

Up for grabs is a 50g 1990's era Danish market version of Bell's Three Nuns, produces by Orlik under license form Imperial tobacco. This tin is from BEFORE the move to Dark KY from perique which Orlik did in 2002/2003 (and, which MacBaren continued). today, it is sadly, no longer anywhere close to the same blend it once was.

This VA/perique blend was a standard for decades. The fermented Virginias added a lot of sweet, tangy citrus/grass notes and the 18% (ish) of perique provided much more than just the typical condiment factor- adding plenty of the beloved spicy & piquant raisin/fig aspect which drew so many to the VA/Perique combination. It is lightly topped, tho I never managed to find out with what exactly- tho it's very subtle and interplay between the Virginias and the perique in these spun coins is without a doubt the star of this show.

I got this tin from the personal collection of a friend in Denmark when it was simply impossible to find in the US at the time (2001) and it is from the 1990s production era, tho not sure exactly what year.
