Vintage Dunhill Tobacco: Rare Set of two My Mixture 965 tins

One of the most celebrated pipe tobaccos ever made, to this day Dunhill’s My Mixture 965 remains an icon against which other English blends are measured.

This auction is for a set of two tins, still preserved in their original plastic wrapped packaging, dating from some forty years ago.

The presence of the Royal Warrant, along with the label identifying this tobacco as manufactured and blended in England, make it clear that this is neither European or Murrays production, and must date at least back to the 1980s. According to Loring’s analysis these tins were produced for Dunhill by McConnell, the long vanished English pipe tobacco maker of Rattray’s, Elephant & Castle, and many other rare and highly sought after blends. To find a tin of this legendary blend from this era is extremely uncommon; to find a set of two such tins in my experience is unprecedented.
