Description

Vintage painted metal tin with finger-pull inner lid, and clear plastic stay-fresh type protector lid.

NOTE: Larus & Brother Company, Inc., Richmond Virginia ... is said to have closed its doors in 1974! The UPC code must be one of the earliest. Now aged 50 years in the sealed tin!!!

    On clear plastic lid:
    "FINE TOBACCO PRODUCTS"
    "HOUSE OF EDGEWORTH"
    "SINCE 1877"

    "NET WT. 14 OZ."

"JOHN ROLFE Pipe Mixture is named in
honor of America's first successful tobacco
planter whose crop in 1612 saved the
    Virginia colony at Jamestown.
JOHN ROLFE Pipe Mixture combines a
blend of choice, specially cured tobaccos
with a precise amount of Peach Brandy
flavor for an exciting smoke with a fresh,
    satisfying taste and aroma."

    "Made under authority of
    Larus & Brother Company
    Richmond, Virginia 23217
    by
    The Pinkerton Tobacco Company
    Owensboro, Kentucky 42301"

    "MADE IN U.S.A."

Production code embossed on underside of tin, appears to be:
    "F 481"

    Condition:
Clear lid has discolored slightly from age, and has a small crack propagating at one edge, but is still flexible and seals well. Pull-away metal lid is still perfect and factory fresh looking, HOWEVER: THE CIRCLE EDGE HAS SEPARATED FOR ABOUT 1/3 OF THE CIRCUMFERENCE! Painted side has little tiny blemishes throughout. Plated tin base has several small oxidation spots, as well as around the perimeter there. Interior moisture levels are unknown, of course, but expect to re-hydrate, given the lid breach.

Very nice and unique display piece as a whole, or ready to be cracked open and enjoyed!

Buyers of the same name and complete shipping address, paying for multiple won auctions in any 24-hour period (or more, at our discretion), will have their items safely packaged together into one COMBINED SHIPPING box. After we notify TinBids of any shipping labels that were not generated and supply them with the new box parameters, they will link the tracking, adjust shipping cost, and refund the overage.

Maintained in a temperature and moisture controlled, smoke frequented cellar.
