5 Tins of Bernard Amostrinha (2024, Pre-Transition)

5 Tins of Bernard Amostrinha snuff from the Bernards production era before they shut down in May 2024 due to changing EU regulations.

Tins were purchased in March 2024 and immediately sealed in mylar with oxygen absorbers. I cut open the mylar to take the picture and was greeted by a very strong Amostrinha smell. I'm assuming these will be as fresh as the day I received them.

Bernard Amostrinha is a German Schmalzler with a medium grind and moderate moisture. The snuff has a dark brown colour and contains mineral oil, which creates the characteristic texture of this style. Tasting notes include chocolate, menthol, camphor, and natural tobacco, with earthy and smoky secondary notes.

The nicotine strength is medium, making it suitable for beginners. The chocolate and tobacco notes form the base, while the menthol and camphor add a cooling element. The grind resists being taken too deeply into the nasal passages.
