***OWN A RARE PIECE OF AMERICAN CIGAR HISTORY***
This lot is for 1 full box (25 cigars) of La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Miami in the rare Campana Chicas vitola (5.5" x 58). Box has been stored in temperature and humidity-controlled humidor at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and 65% humidity (with 65% Boveda packs inside the box as an additional safeguard). Lot will ship with fresh 65% Boveda pack.
The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Miami project was a limited-production cigar line by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo released in 2008. It marked a return to the brand’s historic roots, rolled by a small team of artisans at the original El Credito Cigar Factory on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Miami, before the facility transitioned into a lounge and closed.
The Campana Chica vitola is a premium pyramid-shaped box-pressed cigar, measuring 5.5 inches with a 58 ring gauge. It features a Nicaraguan wrapper, a Sumatra binder from Ecuador, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
If you smoked cigars in the early 1990s, buying a La Gloria Cubana was a challenge. The brand was the original hard-to-find smoke in the early days of the cigar boom. When La Gloria production was greatly expanded with the opening of cigar factories in the Dominican Republic, supply caught up with demand.
La Glorias were born on Calle Ocho, in Miami’s Little Havana, and cigarmaker Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has maintained that small cigar factory even while the vast majority of La Glorias are now rolled in the D.R. He recently created a new cigar in Miami to be rolled only in that factory, the La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Miami.
It’s the best La Gloria in years. Perez- Carrillo changed wrappers, moving from Ecuador Sumatra leaf to spicy Nicaraguan wrapper, and tipped the balance of filler, boosting the Nicaraguan quotient while dimming that of the Dominican tobacco inside. The result is a bolder, richer smoke.
This rare and historic box-pressed stunner is finished with a triple-seam cap and brims with flavors of rich coffee and a nutty sweetness.
