Description
A history lesson. In the late 1980s and early 1990s Barry Levin (through Levin Pipes Internations) was partnering with McClelland to produce the very first Limited Edition pipe tobacco blends designed for aging. He convinced his friend, Bob Hamlin (running the Pipe Collectors Club of America) to join him, and PCCA's first release was "Boston 1776", released in the Fall of 1993 in an edition of 1776 tins. Made to Hamlin's specifications by McClelland, it was an aged Virginia with just a smidge of Turkish.
On a personal note, this was the first tobacco I ever cellared, and after 33 years I've decided to share some with less fortunate folks who never had the chance at it when it was originally released. A true piece of tobacco history, and a coveted tin for its spectacular smoking qualities. With 33 years of aging it is heaven in a tin.
