Up for auction is a lot of four sealed 2oz tins of Cornell & Diehl’s Small Batch Sun Bear: Black Locust from the 2024 release. This is the one-time yearly run that sold out quickly and has been hard to find since.
It’s a Virginia and Oriental blend with a light, floral honey casing. The Black Locust honey comes through as delicate and creamy rather than sugary, and the Orientals add a soft, fruity lift. Sun Bear is released once a year in a different edition each time, so these tins can’t be replaced.
The tins have been cellared for more than two years, and Virginia/Oriental blends like this one tend to mellow and gain depth with time. Black Locust is my favorite year of Sun Bear, and I’m only parting with these because I need to thin down my cellar.
