Description
Lot of five very old, mid-century EMPTY original retail glass tobacco containers / jars / bottles / tins.
Three (3) smaller, 2 ounce jars of: Perique, Walnut, and Latakia blends. All have brown paper covered (tin?) lids, each with varying remaining portions of their original U.S. / I.R.S. Tax Paid Revenue Tobacco Strip, Series 113, Springer Catalog # TG590a (where the "a" is for Roulette 7, torn-type edges) for 2 Ounces. Stamps note the Tax Act of 1926, but the jars and stamps are believed to be mid 1940s.
NOTE: The Perique lid functions well, the Walnut lid has a split in the side wrap, so it cannot hold more than just hanging on, and the Latakia lid was too tight to remove!!!
Two (2) - 5 ounce jars of Shredded Plug and Selber blends, each again with varying remaining portions of the original U.S. / I.R.S. Tax Paid Revenue Tobacco Strip for 5 Ounces. The Shredded Plug has a brown paper covered (tin?) lid. The Selber has an exposed tin lid with two very small, green CITY OF DENVER Tax Stamps. These two jars are also believed to be mid 1940s, and came with the others.
All the round, lid-liner "cards" shown come out, and are made of a thin, semi-transparent material.
