Description

“Only the best is good enough for Dad.”

Here is a charming unopened 1955 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed 7 oz keywind tin, dressed in its original Father’s Day gift label:

“To The Greatest Dad in the World”

Made by Larus & Brother Co. of Richmond, Virginia, Edgeworth was one of the grand old names of American pipe tobacco. Its famous blue tin was a familiar sight in drugstores, tobacco shops, home dens, fishing camps, and wherever a good pipe had a place of honor. For generations of pipe smokers, Edgeworth meant steady quality, easy companionship, and the simple pleasure of a well-earned smoke at the end of the day.

The old Edgeworth advertisements had a wonderful way of capturing that world. They spoke of the friendly trail of pipe smoke, the quiet fellowship among pipe men, and the familiar blue tin of “America’s Finest Pipe Tobacco.” At Father’s Day, Edgeworth leaned into something especially American: a useful gift, plainly given, that told Dad he was appreciated.

That is what gives this tin its extra bit of heart. The special label turns a classic Edgeworth keywind into a little mid-century time capsule — the kind of gift that might have been handed across the breakfast table on a June Sunday morning, alongside a card from the children and a fresh cup of coffee.

This example remains unopened, with the original keywind top intact. The deep blue graphics still have strong display appeal, and the Father’s Day label remains right where it belongs across the front. I do hear a slight internal shake when gently handled, which is noted here for accuracy.

A fine survivor from the days of walnut radios, Sunday papers, polished shoes by the door, and Dad’s pipe resting beside his favorite chair.
