Description
50g/1.75oz., of Robert McConnell's "ORIGINAL ORIENTAL BLEND", which to the James. B. Russel era's "Upper Saddle River" address, when they dissolved their business in 2002. This tin is the smaller 3.5" diameter tins which were discontinued in the late 1970's. The label is the earlier reflective gold and weighs as much as a comparable 4" tin of the same product. Perhaps a mis-laid 2 oz tin in inventory which was rushed out with the Russell label showing "1-3/4 OZ/50g" or just after this Blend was acquired by Arango Cigar Co. I purchased this from the back shelf in a jumbled modern new-agent tobacconist's shop about 2014. This tin is conservatively +25 years-old. Part of the McConnell range from the early 1800's. One of their oldest blends "consists of mostly Cypriot, Turkish and Eastern Mediterranean Bright tobacco blended with Bright Leaf from Carolina and Red, Old Belt Virginias" with a touch of Carolina Black Cavendish. Highly rated reviews by readers of Pipe Tobacco Reviews. Unsure of it's provenance, I've priced it accordingly.
