Description
Here’s a unique and rare chance to experience a piece of history. For your consideration is a WWII era sealed tin of 50 Capstan Navy Cut Cigarettes made by the legendary W.D. & H.O. Wills Company out of Bristol & London.
This tin is in pristine condition. The only point to note is that the original owner must have put the cutter lid on the bottom of the tin and over time the tin has become so swollen that the lid will not come off of the bottom. The swelling of the tin is indicative of natural fermentation and almost always indicates that the vacuum seal is intact. This means that the lid will either have to be removed from the bottom of the tin to open from the top or another means of opening such as a knife or other can opener will have to be used. Watch out, this tin looks like it’s going to be a hisser, filling your nose with the wonderful boozy and fruity aroma of well aged Virginia tobacco.
These are undoubtedly some of the finest cigarettes ever made, using some of the most famous and renowned Virginia leaf. Many pipe smokers, myself included, have tried old cigarettes such as these without inhaling just to experience the rich flavor and aroma of a quality smoke from yesteryear. Absolutely nothing like modern day cigarettes laden with all the additives.
Don’t miss your chance to add this rare tin to your collection!
