Description
Up for auction is a remarkable, cohesive 7-piece vintage estate pipe collection, completely intact with its original classic wooden display stand. This collection represents a high-grade rescue of mid-century English and American briar, anchored by four highly coveted pre-1980 GBD models featuring the authentic inlaid brass metal rondelles on the stems.
This is an incredible "instant collection" or cellar-builder for any fan of classic British shapes and pristine natural virgin finishes.
The 7-Pipe Lineup Includes:
1. GBD 9611 Conquest Virgin: An oversized, highly expressive Acorn/Pear shape. Completely flawless natural grain, pre-1980 brass rondelle, stamped "Made in London England." Pristine nomenclature.
2. GBD 864 Virgin: Medium Dublin shape featuring an elegant flared bowl and straight shank. Excellent clean natural finish, pre-1980 brass rondelle, stamped "Made in London England."
3. GBD 122 Virgin: Long Billiard shape with a classic taper mouthpiece. Perfectly balanced grain lines, pre-1980 brass rondelle, stamped "Made in London England."
4. GBD 254 New Era: Traditional Lumberman shape featuring a cylindrical bowl and long oval shank. High-tier line, pre-1980 brass rondelle, stamped "Made in London England."
5. Weber "Virgin Standard": Smooth vintage American briar with the authentic stylized "W" logo inset on the stem. Left completely unstained to show beautiful grain.
6. WDC "Natural Virgin": Beautiful historic piece from the William Demuth Company featuring spectacular bird's-eye grain and the iconic WDC Triangle Stamp on the shank.
7. John Middleton "Old Mariner": Mid-century smooth briar contract pipe celebrating the historic Philadelphia blending house, stamped "Established 1856" on the shank.
