STUNNING CUMBERLAND SQUAT BULLDOG, GORGEOUS RARE FACTORY “AD” SOLID GOLD BAND
Whomever "AL" was, he had really good taste in pipes! Dunhill’s Cumberland is one of my favorite finishes/blasts of all time as they always seem to be incredible. This beauty was carved in 1988 and is a classic squat Bulldog shape 4117. It is also adorned with a relatively rare factory AD solid gold band which adds unparalleled class and distinction! If your name is "AL", today is your lucky day as that is what is engraved on the other side of the band. If not, well, it's an ode to AL. 4117 is a fantastic shape, a wide and broad profile with thick walls and classic smooth rounded rim leading to a relatively modest chamber yet still offers plenty of capacity. The diamond shank is crisp and adorned with the aforementioned 9KT gold band that meets the original Cumberland stem with fishtail bit and crisp white spot.
Cumberland finish is a rich butterscotch with golden brown highlights while the blast displays beautiful ring grain and birdseye craters. A fancy pipe from Dunhill, this one is ready to enjoy and would make a memorable gift for any pipe lover!
